I really won't be explaining you what is MBA. Today MBA has become a household word. Every person is planning to do MBA or will do MBA in future. Those who have not thought about it still have fair idea about MBA. I think the time is not far when MBA will become a necessity. Lets look into what are the different MBA entrance exams:
1) CAT: 'CAT' is Common Admission Test conducted by IIM's. Along with IIM's there are 90 other institutes that are affliated with CAT. Its generally conducted on the third sunday of November. CAT from 2009 November is going online. It is generally said that if a person is prepared for CAT, that person can give any other entrance exam. Consists of three section; quantitative ability, verbal ability and logical reasoning & data interpretation.
2) IIFT: It's Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi and Kolkatta. This is on the last sunday of November. This is more wellknown for its specialization in foreign trade.
3) JMET: This exam conducted by IIT's and only engineers are eligible. Its conducted on third last sunday of December. JMET data interpretation and math section are difficult. Math section even include higher math.
4) SNAP: This exam is conducted by Symbiosis University on second last sunday of December in afternoon and has some 12 colleges affiliated with it. Well known among those are SIBM, SCMHRD and SIIB. It has one more section as general awarness which is very unique.
5) IBSAT: This exam is conducted by ICFAI university and is on same day as SNAP, but is in the morning. It's a very easy test but college affiliated with it are not so well known
6) NMAT: This exam is conducted by NMIMS, Mumbai. It's a speed based paper containing 60 questions on Math & DI, 50 questions on Reasoning and 40 questions on English. If a person scores highly in written then GD/PI are just formality. It's on last sunday of December.
7) XAT: This exam is conducted by XLRI and has around 50 college affiliated with it. Sections are similar to CAT but its bit difficult than CAT. It's held on first sunday of January.
8) FMS: 'FMS' means Faculty management studies. It has four sections; Math & DI, Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary. The tution fee here is the minimum among all B-schools in India or also in world. The return on investement is the best and its well known for its MBA in finance. Its on second sunday of January.
9) TISS: Tata Institute of Social Sciences is well known college for HR, but the sad thing is it has only 30 seats. The paper is extremely simple.
10) MH-CET: This is a test conducted by Maharashtra Government. The best college under it is JBIMS. Its a speed based test consisting 200 questions and with higher weightage on written exam. It is held generally on third sunday of February.
Apart from this there are few exams like ATMA, MAT and CET of other states. But the problem with them is college affiliated with these exams are not of good ranking. I will discuss about this exams in upcoming blogs. I have also not mentioned 'GMAT' in the above list. I will try to discuss about this exam later.
